An Introduction

Give an explanation of the concept of this website.

Ellah: Bianca and I have always wanted to take a non-formal route for starting this blog when the time came. To me, it feels like it’s more of a collective space for full creative transparency. It’s really exciting to be in a space where you’re able to share that with someone, so we thought it’d be best to share it with the world too.

Bianca: Overall, Two American Girl Dolls is a collective space to share whatever. I see it as a blog or an online magazine. It is a creative outlet, as well as a place to have conversations with other people and have somewhere [for it] to go that is less like social media, but still completely accessible to the public.

What do you hope comes out of this blog?

Ellah: I hope that I’m able to see and reach new ideas through other peoples lenses. Interviewing is something we want to accomplish through this blog, and we are really excited to start doing so. It’s refreshing to be able to absorb authentic content, and I hope we are able to provide that for anyone who finds themselves reading what we have to say.

Bianca: I hope the outcome of this blog, to be super vague, is connection. I think that’s what everybody needs, more than you’d imagine. If there is a way for light to be shed on people and projects and thoughts, connection will come out of that in all different ways.

What makes you feel like you are someone who has enough to say to make a website out of it?

Bianca: I don’t. I just love writing and I overshare on my Instagram story all the time. I feel like having an official place to put it with this blog is something that feels like me. Everyone has a voice and this is how I want to use mine right now.

Ellah: I think anyone who believes that they have enough to say is qualified, in a way, to make something of it. Maybe my words don’t mean anything to you, I don’t care. But if I put so much of myself into learning new things or writing words on a doc or a piece of paper, why should that make me less able to do that than anyone else? Every person has to start somewhere.

We consider each other as creative counterparts. What (in each of us) inspires that?

Ellah: Bianca and I have always been able to connect on our more personal creative sides. She’s a very inspiring person to be around. We both push each other to explore new ideas, without any limits from outside perspectives. It’s also really easy for us to understand each other’s ideas while also being on opposite sides of the spectrum of what we want to accomplish because of that. It’s a lucky thing to have someone like that in your life.

Bianca: Ellah is my best friend and someone who inspires me. She is so real and so herself in every way, and when I decided I wanted to create something like this she was the first person that came to mind to collaborate on it with. We are so very different but I love the way it looks when we work together.

What external influences led you in this direction?

Bianca: For me, anyone or anything that makes me feel like I’m living. Any artists who have created a complete universe of their own, artistically. Other than that, I am always influenced by the people I am surrounded by, people who aren’t scared to do different things and exist outside of the realm of judgment. I love seeing people express themselves like that.

Ellah: There have been so many people I know, and things I’ve seen, that have led me in this direction. I think we are living in a time where formality doesn’t exist within or around art as much anymore, and that is such an inspiring thing to be surrounded by. Seeing people be able to truly express themselves by being outside of the box is very infatuating to me.
